Sustainable food production starts with people and our colleagues in Merthyr are showing what that looks like in practice.
We’re delighted to see the team at Kepak Merthyr recognised with the Sustainable Values Award at the 2026 Welsh Food & Drink Awards.
This recognition means a great deal to everyone at our Merthyr site, and to the Welsh farmers and partners who are part of this journey with us.
Sustainability at Kepak isn’t a standalone project. It’s part of how we operate every day, from reducing water and energy intensity on site, to supporting Welsh farmers through regenerative agriculture programmes, to the everyday improvements our colleagues make that add up to real change.
Since 2018:
• We’ve reduced our absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 61%
• Planted 10,000 trees in partnership with the Merthyr Tydfil Biodiversity Partnership
• Continued investing locally through our Community Fund and apprenticeship programme
The meat industry doesn’t always get credit for the progress being made. But the work happening in Merthyr shows that responsible, sustainable food production isn’t theoretical, it’s already happening. Thank you to our colleagues in Merthyr, our supplying farmers across Wales, and our partners for making this possible.
