KEPAK TO GROW MERTHYR WORKFORCE WITH £5.5MILLION INVESTMENT

Kepak is creating over 100 new jobs at its Merthyr site to help meet rising demand for its products.

Currently employing over 850 people, the new positions at Kepak Merthyr comprise both supervisor and support roles, with a broad spectrum of opportunities across manufacturing, operations, IT, engineering, and technical.

The move is the result of a £5.5 million investment in the site which will double the plant’s CPM (Central Prepared meats) packaging capacity, following the company securing access to the US market, significantly increasing demand.

Kepak Merthyr General Manager Chris Jones said: “We are delighted to be announcing this significant investment at the Kepak Merthyr site, including the creation of 100 vital jobs supporting the local economy. This investment will bring about enhancements to our facilities, ultimately doubling the sites CPM packaging capacity and significantly increasing our demand for livestock, which is excellent news for local famers. At Kepak Merthyr, we are committed to supporting local communities and being a good employer, and this investment is further evidence of that commitment in action.”

Kepak CEO Simon Walker said: “I’m pleased to announce a £5.5 investment in our Merthyr plant, which is a strategically important site for Kepak. As a growing food business, we are committed to continually investing in our sites. The enhancements that will be made to our Merthyr plant will not only help us to achieve greater capacity but more importantly, will result in more efficient output adding to the site’s strong sustainability credentials.”
