Butchery is one of the oldest known crafts and is a highly skilled and technical profession where innovation meets tradition. In Ireland and the UK, the meat industry is a stable and profitable industry with plenty of room for career growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

What qualifications will I gain from a Butchery apprenticeship?

The learning part of this programme is aimed at providing bespoke training to become a qualified butcher. Candidates will develop knife skills, understand yields, gain a knowledge of food safety, identify features of carcasses and produce quality products to meet customer specifications. At the end of the apprenticeship, you will have achieved the following qualifications as a minimum:

  • Technical Certificate [Includes elements from the FDQ Proficiency in Meat & Poultry qualification]
  • Level 2 Food Safety Award
  • Level 2 Health and Safety in the Food Safety Chain
  • Level 2 Knife Skills
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English

BUTCHERY APPRENTICESHIP BENEFITS

 

The opportunity to earn money whilst learning invaluable skills and receiving an internationally recognised qualification. You will earn a starting salary of £20,000 per year and be fast-tracked into a qualified professional role after 2 years on an enhanced skilled worker rate plus bonus.
