NSA & Kepak Next Generation Future Farming Competition

New competition to reward sustainably thinking future farmers at the 2024 NSA Sheep Event.

Young UK sheep farmers have the opportunity to demonstrate their ideas and knowledge for a sustainable sheep farming future in an exciting new competition launched to coincide with the National Sheep Association (NSA) Sheep Event, taking place this summer. The Next Generation Future Farming competition, ran by the NSA in conjunction with Kepak, challenges anyone aged 18 to 35 to submit a plan for the management of a farm in need of improvement, hypothetically belonging to ‘Tom Farmer of Flock Farm’.

A Shearing Success – Kepak Shearfest 2024

Held in Mountbellew Mart, Co. Galway, this esteemed annual event in the Sheep sector calendar hosted over 20,000 people across Saturday and Sunday of the bank holiday weekend.  With the Kepak Athleague factory being less than 14 miles away, this local sponsorship deemed the perfect fit to engage with suppliers, their families and the wider community.

KEPAK SHEARFEST 2024 – All-Ireland and All Nations Sheep Shearing Championships come to Mountbellew this June.

A weekend of sheep-shearing, family fun, and more is coming to Mountbellew at the Mart Grounds on the June Bank Holiday weekend, 1st-2nd June, 2024. This elite event, sponsored by Kepak Group, is expected to draw 20,000 visitors and is being held in Mountbellew for the first time. Competitors from across Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Australia, and New Zealand will gather for the largest dedicated sheep event in Ireland in 2024.

KEPAK MERTHRY HOSTS ITALIAN DELEGATION FOR WELSH MEAT SHOWCASE

During the visit, the Italian delegation had the opportunity to tour Kepak’s state-of-the-art processing facilities in Merthyr Tydfil and Newton Farm, where they gained firsthand insights into the production processes of these premium meats. The delegation witnessed the dedication of farmers like the Roderick family, known for their commitment to sustainable farming practices in the Usk Valley near Brecon.

During her visit, Minister Bowden was joined by Prys Morgan, Kepak UK Livestock Procurement Director, and Michael Richards, Production Manager for a tour of the factory (pictured).
